In a city there lived a little boy studying in sixth class, whose name was William. William was a very simple and innocent boy.
One day when William was reading a book in his room, mother came and said to him:-
“William, go and bring the items mentioned in this list from the nearby shop.
William immediately got up and took the slip from mother’s hand and went to get the things.”
When he was coming back with the luggage, he saw that two children, Sunny and Tony, studying in class 10 of his school, were standing on the roadside. Ignoring them, William started walking fast, avoiding them because both of them were very bad children, neither were they interested in studies nor were they ahead in sports. We used to just have fun in school the whole day and wander around like this after school.
But both of their eyes fell on William. Both of them ran towards him and stopped him. Then Sunny engaged him in conversation and Tony secretly dropped some stuff down. Then pointing towards the fallen items, Sunny said,
“Hey William, look, maybe some of your stuff has fallen. Looks like it might have fallen out of your bag.”
As soon as William picked up the item and saw it, Tony immediately took a photo of it with his mobile, and said to him:-
“You also steal William, this is my stuff in your hand, I was searching for it for a long time.
William got very scared and started crying. “No no, I have not stolen anything.”
“It was you who committed the theft, and we also have proof of it. Then he showed William the photo taken from his mobile, in which he had the belongings of both of them in his hand.
Then Tony said to William, “Now we will show this photo of yours in the whole school, and will also tell the Principal Sir that you steal and we have caught you red-handed.”
Yes, then you will be expelled from school.” Sunny also said scaring him.
“No no brother, don’t do this, I will be scolded a lot at home, and I have not stolen anything, you also know this.” William said nervously.
“Then whatever we tell you, you will have to do it, otherwise we will show this photo to everyone, for today you give us these packets of biscuits and chips” Tony said.
“Brother, but what will I tell mother? William said crying.
“You yourself see all that.” And taking biscuits and chips, both of them went away laughing.
William was thinking about what to say at home, then he saw a beggar and an idea came to his mind, he went home and told his mother that he had given the biscuits and chips to a hungry beggar. Mother was both angry and happy.
William survived that day, but he also felt very sad that he had lied to his mother for the first time.
Now this had become a regular thing, Sunny and Tony often used to get some work done by William. William had started feeling very upset because during this affair he had stolen some money from his mother’s purse once or twice, which he did not like at all. His mother could understand that her son was worried, but despite repeated inquiries, William avoided telling her anything.
One day William became very upset and started crying. When mother went to his room and started caressing his head lovingly. So William’s patience broke and he told the whole thing to his mother.
Instead of getting angry, mother hugged him and said:-
“Don’t cry William, look what happened happened, but son I had explained to you many times that you should never hide anything from your parents. No matter how big the mistake is, or whatever the matter is, first of all you should tell your parents or someone at home. They will scold and punish us for our mistakes, but son, they will also take us out of it.”
How did you think that we will also consider you a thief, we would have understood the whole thing first and then taken a decision, and one more thing, now you will have to make yourself very strong, see how both of them took advantage of your weakness.
Son, you did not even think that just by having a photo in your mobile, it would be proved that you are a thief, and seeing the records of Sunny and Tony, no one would believe what they both say. Well, I will go to school with you tomorrow and tell everything to your principal sir, now don’t worry, we have full faith in you.
After listening to his mother, all the fears and worries of William went away. His mind which was disturbed for many days, now all the turmoil in his mind was gone.
The mother went to school the very next day and told the whole story to Principal Sir. Sir called Sunny and Tony’s parents and told them about the misdeeds of their children. Both Sunny and Tony got scolded by everyone and were even expelled from school for a few days.
Sunny and Tony’s parents also felt very embarrassed, they had to apologize to Principal Sir and William and his mother. Principal Sir gave the last instructions to Sunny and Tony and said that if even after this both of them do not improve then they will be sent to a juvenile home.
Seeing their parents being insulted in front of everyone, Sunny and Tony also became sad and at the same time, due to the fear of being kept in a juvenile home, they vowed to bring change and improvement in themselves.
Education – From this story we learn that no matter what happens, or no matter what our mistakes are, we should not hide anything from our parents. They may scold or punish us for our mistakes, but they will also help us.
And the second lesson we also get is that we should never do anything that would make our parents sad, or make them feel embarrassed in front of others.
