Once upon a time, a king named Harishankar ruled a kingdom. That king had three sons. His wish was that his most capable son should take over his throne, but he was in doubt as to whom among the three he should hand over his throne.
One day the king got an idea. At the same time he called his three sons and said, “Sons! Today I ask all of you a question, if a criminal is standing in front of you, what will you do with him?
On this the king’s first son said, “That criminal should be punished and given death. ,
Whereas the second son said, “The culprit should be tied in the dungeon.” ,
While the third son said, “Father, before punishing him we should investigate whether he has really committed the crime or not.”
On this the king’s third son told a story to everyone. There was a king who had a wise parrot. Once the parrot said to the king, “I want to go to my mother and father.” The king did not listen to him, but the parrot did not give up. He kept insisting to Maharaj to let him go to his parents. At last the king agreed with the parrot and said, “Okay, you come and meet your parents, but do not stay there for long. “The king gave permission to the parrot only for five days and said, you return after meeting your family in five days.
After this the parrot went to his parents for five days. On the sixth day, when he was returning to the king, he thought why not take some gift for Maraj. Then he set out towards the mountain. Actually, he wanted to get the nectar of nectar for the king. By the time we reached there it was night. The parrot reached the mountain and took the fruit, but because it was night he did not move ahead and stopped there.
That night, when the parrot was sleeping, a snake came there and started eating the nectar taken for the king. The snake ate the fruit and hence poison had spread in the fruit. However, the parrot was not even aware of this. When he woke up the next morning, he took the fruit and headed towards the palace.
When he reached Mahat, he happily went straight to the king and said, “Maharaj, I have brought this nectar of fruit for you.” If you eat this you will become immortal forever.” The king was very happy to hear this. He immediately asked to eat that nectar fruit. On this a minister said, “Wait sir, how can you eat this fruit without examining it.” Just check once to see whether this nectar brought by the parrot is the right fruit or not.”
The king agreed with the minister and said that this fruit should be immediately fed to a dog. After receiving the king’s order, the soldier fed a piece of fruit to the dog. The dog died after eating the fruit. Seeing this the king became furious with anger. In anger, he cut off the parrot’s head with his sword. Also got the fruit thrown away.
After a few years, a plant emerged at the same place. Seeing this, the king thought that it was a plant with the same poisonous fruit. He ordered everyone that no one should eat the fruit of that tree.
After a few days, an old man stopped to rest under that tree. He was also very hungry. He plucked the fruit from the same tree and started eating it. After eating the fruit the old man suddenly became young. When Raj saw this he was surprised. He understood that the fruit was not poisonous. He made a big mistake. He killed the parrot without knowing the truth. He felt very remorseful about this. For this he started cursing himself in his mind.
Here, after the story of the third prince ended, King Harishankar appointed him as his successor. After this there was celebration in the state.
Lesson from the story – We learn from this story that we should never punish anyone without investigating.
