1- How to check name in the voter list, understand this first?

You will get the right to vote only when your name is in the voter list. So before going to vote, check your name in the voter list. For this, go to the Electoral Search website https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/. Here you will find many ways to search your name. You can also search it by the EPIC number or mobile number registered in the voter ID card.

2- Where is the polling booth, how to find it?

To know where the polling booth of your area is located, go to the Electoral Search website https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/. Here you can find your polling booth in three ways. First, through the EPIC number, mobile number and your personal details recorded in the voter ID. Apart from this, you can also find out the polling booth through the Voter Helpline app. This app is available for both Android and IOS platforms. It can be downloaded from the Play Store.

3 – Which documents should you carry for voting?

Voter ID card is necessary for voting. If you do not have it, you cannot be stopped from voting. In such a situation, other documents can be used as identity proof. Such as Aadhar card, driving license, passport, central or state government identity card, photo ID card issued by a private company, passbook with photo ID issued by bank-post office, pension document with photo, PAN card or MNREGA job card.

4 – Get your name and ID checked at the polling booth

After getting the information about the polling booth, you have to reach there. The polling staff will check your name and ID proof in the list. Then blue ink will be applied on the finger. Now you will be given a slip and asked to sign on the register (Form 17A).

5- You will have to go to the booth to vote

Now you will have to submit the given slip to the polling personnel. You will have to show the ink on your finger. After doing this, you will have to go to the polling booth. Now you will have to register your vote by pressing the button in front of the election symbol of the candidate of your choice on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
