Good Friday, the main festival of Christianity, will be celebrated on 29 March 2024. This day is also known as Black Friday, Holy Friday, or Great Friday. According to popular beliefs, Lord Jesus was crucified on this day after being tortured. Followers of Christianity remember this day as the day of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. Jesus Christ is considered the founder of Christianity. He never said he was a god, but he spent his whole life in the welfare of human service. Today we will know who Jesus Christ was, when, and where he was born.

Birth of Lord Jesus

It is believed that Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a city in Palestine, between 4 and 6 BC. His mother and father came from Nazareth and settled in Bethlehem, and it was here that Lord Jesus was born. His mother’s name was Maryam and his father’s name was Yusuf. His father Yusuf was a carpenter by profession. According to the belief, Yusuf married Mary at the behest of God.

Jesus’ father died just 2 years after his birth, and he was raised by his mother Mary. There is not much information available in Christian religious texts about the life of Lord Jesus from 13 to 30 years. After this, at the age of 30, Lord Jesus received education from John. After this, he started establishing religion.

Seeing the growing love of people for Lord Jesus, religious fanatics who spread superstition strongly opposed him. Due to this the Jewish king Pontians made every effort to stop Lord Jesus. But he was not at all disturbed by this and continued to preach religion. King Pontians was afraid that if he did not stop Lord Jesus, the Jews could revolt. For this, Lord Jesus was sentenced to death.

As a punishment, Lord Jesus was crucified, that day was Friday. When he died, he was buried in the grave. After 3 days, Lord Jesus rose again from the grave. That day was Sunday. Which is also known as Easter Sunday. Many Jews saw this miracle with their own eyes. After this, the disciples of Lord Jesus spread his teachings to the people. At that time a new religion was established, which is called Christianity.

10 Interesting Facts About Jesus

Jesus wasn’t an only child. He had siblings. It may be hard to imagine what it would have been like for Jesus to have a younger brother or sister, but Mary and Joseph had more children after Jesus’ miraculous birth.

At the age of 12, Jesus went missing while traveling with his family. Jesus and his family traveled to Jerusalem for Passover. After the festival was over, the family packed up and left Jerusalem, except for one family member who was left behind: Jesus. And it took his family a whole day to realize he was missing! After a few days of searching, they found him teaching in the temple. Losing the Son of God must have been a little scary!

Jesus got angry. He even overturned tables in the temple. He didn’t like people who were taking advantage of others in his Father’s house. It may be surprising that Jesus showed His anger, but it’s refreshing to know that He got angry over issues like injustice, just like you and I do.

Jesus had more problems with church leaders than with people in the community. During Jesus’ ministry, He extended grace and love to ordinary people, even “sinners.” And He had some harsh words for the religious leaders of His time. He didn’t like how they treated the people He loved. This shows us that no matter how many followers we have or how much power and influence we have, it’s important to lead others well because He cares more about how we treat others than how well we follow the rules.

Jesus was not white. Although many paintings in our museums depict Jesus as a tall, blond, Scandinavian man with a beard, Jesus was actually of Jewish descent and had dark skin and thick black hair. Therefore, His appearance was quite different from what we imagine.

Jesus had humble beginnings. Born into a family of carpenters, Jesus came from a poor, laborer’s home. This means that Jesus would have known what it was like to live in poverty and hunger and need. Although Jesus is the Son of God, He chose to come to earth as an ordinary man, just like you and I.

Jesus began His ministry later in life, at about age 30. Some of us might expect that He would have begun His ministry at birth, but in fact, He went through the normal experiences of growing up as an infant, young child, teen, and young adult.

Women helped raise money for Jesus’ ministry. Jesus had incredible respect for women and even helped a woman who was about to be stoned to death. Not only did Jesus show us how to treat women, but women helped raise money for His ministry. Luke 8 talks about women who followed Jesus and his disciples and supported them with their means.

Jesus struggled when facing death. We all know that Jesus came to sacrifice his life for us, but we forget that he was a human being who struggled, just like you and I. When facing his death in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was worried and prayed that God would take this pain away from him if possible.

Jesus came to earth for more than just dying on the cross for our sins. He came to experience life as a human being so he could empathize with us. He experienced heartache, rejection, betrayal, loss, illness, and death just like us. God wanted his Son, Jesus, to experience all the heartache of this world, so when we pray, it is not just to the Creator but to the God who already understands our pain. We pray to the God who truly hears our prayers, sees our hearts, and feels our pain.
